Luther in Thuringia
Anno 2017 - 500 years of reformation
This project is co-financed by the European Union (EFRE) and the Free State of Thuringia (Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Science and Digital Society)
2017 marked the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. And although Martin Luther nailed his famous theses to the church door in Wittenberg, in Saxony-Anhalt, it is impossible to miss Thuringia when following the Luther Trail. It was here where he studied, here that he became a monk, here he translated the Bible into German, and here that the Schmalkaldic Articles were created, the most important foundation of the Evangelical-Lutheran faith.
Luther towns and cities such as Erfurt, Eisenach, Schmalkalden, and many others host interesting exhibitions, events, festivals and scenic tours.
